Flags fly at half-staff in honor of Navy SEAL killed in Iraq
INDIANAPOLIS – Gov. Mike Pence has directed flags to be flown at half-staff in Monroe County, after news that a Navy SEAL with Indiana ties was killed in the line of duty in Iraq.
“I ask all Hoosiers to join me today in mourning the loss of U.S. Navy SEAL Charlie Keating IV, who lost his life while defending this great nation,” Pence said in a statement. “While he hailed from Arizona, Charlie attended Indiana University where he was a standout track and field athlete. He served this nation with honor and distinction.”
Wednesday Pence directed that flags be flown at half-staff immediately in Monroe County until sunset on the day of his funeral service. Pence and his wife extended their condolences to Keating’s friends and family. They also urged Hoosiers to keep Keating and all other men and women in uniform in their prayers.
